Good morning, loyal readers as I give you this week’s The Odds and The Ends. What a crazy week, month and year it has been but at least, for Angelino sports, it’s coming up roses. Very rarely do cities have it where all of their sports teams are good. Boston had a terrific run with every professional team winning a title and except for the Celtics, multiple titles. Can you imagine how bitter 50-year old Boston fans must be? They suffered for decades with crappy Patriot teams, Bruins teams that couldn’t beat Montreal, Bill Buckner, etc. etc. And suddenly, every team wins!!! Patriots are the team of a generation; Red Sox win four titles and the Bruins win two. Hell, even the Celtics won one. So if you’re an 18-year old Boston punk, you know nothing but winning and the 50-year bitter Billy can only look at the punk and shake his head. The only person more bitter than a 50-year old Boston fan is a 60-year old Boston fan.
Bartender of the Week

I’m pleased to announce this week’s winner is a good buddy of mine, Christian Lopez. A longtime South Bay gangsta, C-Lo is as recognizable a face as there is in this part of Los Angeles. A man not afraid to log in the hours, he is as beloved as anyone in Hermosa Beach.
STATS: 5’7 (with a wrestler’s compunction) his appearance belies his age, which we will not divulge here.
SUPERPOWERS: Will power. He will literally ‘will you’ into feeling shame. Or leaving the South Bay.
KRYPTONITE: Dodger fans and Bullshit.
NICKNAMES: C-Lo, Dumper and Danny.
FUN FACT: Loves to jump into hotel pools and deliver cannonballs to unsuspecting guests, especially at The Hard Rock in Palm Springs.
A great and knowledgeable bartender, C-Lo has also been a great friend to me and has had my back on numerous occasions. I salute you Padre, Laker, Char…no wait, Rams fan!
Tip of the Cap this week goes to my beloved Los Angeles Dodgers who came back, from against all of the odds and delivered a World Series appearance to their fans. It was a painful, gutsy, insanely exciting NLCS and my heart is still racing. Tremendous play from Mookie, Cody and especially Corey has brought Dodger fans, again, oh so close to that elusive title. C’mon boys! Just a few more wins.
Wag of the Finger to all those Dodger fans who stopped believing fully in the Dodgers. I know they were down 2 games to none and then 3 games to one and were behind 2-0 in the fifth of Game 5 but hey, is that any reason to quit? I’m looking at you, Kevin in the mirror. I won’t not believe again.
So thank you all for reading, I will post again next week. Please send me your favorite bartenders with a picture and some fun stats. I have some South Bay bartenders I need to award this next few weeks but please submit and let’s get a thing going.
Thank you all again my friends and remember to take my advice; pull down your pants and slide on the ice! Good day everyone!
